Gertrud Delrogh

Having survived the cruel and oppressive regime of Nazi Germany as a young woman, as well as the destructive aftermath of World War II, Gertrud embraced the necessity for intellectual freedom in the belief that social action and awareness is the highest calling by which man can overcome the ignorance and injustices set forth by corruptive forces. The pursuit of a higher education, she believed, is the cornerstone in the prevention of such malfeasance. Ever compassionate, it was Gertrud’s wish that all young people should have the opportunity by which to fulfill their potential. This scholarship is created in her loving and lasting memory so that we shall never forget the adversities that humankind suffers when the essential freedoms of life and liberty are denied by others.
