Friends and Family of Chris Cassell
“Two batters later, Chris Cassell lifted a two run jack over the wall to give Mesa a comfortable five run lead.” Sam Farnsworth May 15, 2008 Grand Junction, CO KKCO11 News IP.
Chris was a junior at Mesa State College in the game reported above. The next year, the Mesa State Mavericks flew by chartered jet to North Carolina to play in the Division II World Series. It was a highlight in Chris’ life. Years of commitment, energy and hard work paid off and Chris had experienced all the positive aspects that being a college teammate had to offer.
It all began with little league in Southern Nevada and continued on to varsity ball at Palo Verde High School where Chris graduated with honors in 2004. In 2009, he graduated from Mesa State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. On July 9, 2011, Chris’ life was cut short at the age of 25 from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (“SUDEP”).
It is the hope of Chris’ friends and family that this scholarship will help the recipients enjoy college, be a teammate, and ultimately do what they love in life.
