Scholarship in Memory of Katherine JoAnn Dalvey

This scholarship is in memory of Katherine JoAnn Dalvey and made possible by contributions and support of her Delta Gamma Sorority Sisters and the Las Vegas Rotary Club.

Kathy was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on July 3, 1956, and passed away suddenly on June 21, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kathy grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa where she attended school and was active in Jr. Achievement, cheerleading and was class president her Senior year. After high school, Kathy moved to Tempe, Arizona to attend Arizona State University where she lived in the Delta Gamma Sorority. Upon graduation she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to begin her career. In 1988, Kathy started and has successfully managed her own business as Davey Business Environments in Las Vegas. Dalvey Business Environments is a full-service Las Vegas commercial contract furniture dealer, interior design, and space planning firm.

Throughout her life, Kathy was involved in the local community and an active member of the Las Vegas Rotary Club. Among other positions held, Kathy was a past President of the Club. The mission statement of the Las Vegas Rotary Club is “Teaching Youth to Succeed through Literacy, Education, and Life Skills Development”. Kathy exemplified the mission statement through hands on participation in her personal and professional life. Community service was very important to her. She exhibited the true meaning of “Service Above Self” in her daily life with her family and through community service.

Kathy was a devoted mother of two boys who grew up in Las Vegas. They participated in sports, Boy Scouts, and community service activities along with their mom. Kathy also loved to travel and made it her mission to visit most of the National Parks across the United States. She also frequently traveled with friends and family to amazing places around the world. Kathy was a great mentor and an incredible woman. She always had a smile on her face and was always there to lend a helping hand and compassionate kind word.

With special thanks and the generosity of the Delta Gamma Sorority Sisters, Kathy would be very proud to offer this scholarship to a deserving young lady with a passion for Interior Design and Architecture, especially if that person was also involved in community service.
