Follow Your North Star Scholarship

College-bound high school seniors of Black/African American descent who live in Clark County, NV and have a 3.0 or higher GPA may apply for this scholarship. Student may be a senior at a charter, private, or CCSD high school and must plan to attend an NSHE 4-year college or 2-year university to pursue an undergraduate degree or certificate. Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded.

Eligible NSHE institutions include: College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Nevada State University, Truckee Meadows Community College, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, Reno, and Western Nevada College

Verification of college enrollment (class schedule) will be required during the summer before check is mailed to the college. Scholarship funds must be applied toward tuition, fees and other appropriate educational expenses. These funds will be disbursed in equal payments over two semesters.

Many consider your North Star your mission statement, life goal, or your true calling. North Star is unique to each individual. For example, a person's North Star is to become a registered nurse, a civil engineer, or a business entrepreneur. Our scholarship fund aims to assist underserved and under-resourced African American students in the Las Vegas area to take the next step in attaining their goals through college attainment. FYNS scholarship seeks to encourage students to let their North Star(s) guide them and help them reach their destination. What are the dreams that speak to your soul?
